John Dutton Volunteer fo the Year Award 2009

by Christine Pinkney - 0 Comment(s)

Phyllis Gale’s volunteering career with the Calgary Public Library began in 1974 when she answered an advertisement to deliver library materials in the then fledgling Homebound Readers program.

An enthusiastic ambassador and advocate of the library, Phyllis has had a positive impact on both CPL staff and program participants alike. The staff at Glenmore Square never cease to smile when she comes into the branch as they know through Phyllis, the lives of others are being enhanced and enriched.

To this stellar volunteer, the product of volunteerism is twofold: the benefit to the community, and the ability to form connections amongst individuals.

Phyllis Gale’s steadfast dedication and long-term commitment more than warrant her recognition as the John Dutton Volunteer of the Year for 2009.
