If you have a Calgary Public Library card, you can get an additional card (for no extra charge!) called a TAL card. TAL is an acronym for The Alberta Library. A TAL card enables you to borrow books from post secondary institutions like the University of Calgary, and other public library systems, like the Edmonton Public Library.
If I may say so, I think that the Calgary Public Library has an excellent collection, and usually we can find any book that our customers request. However, sometimes customers request a textbook, or an older book, or something more academic or obscure. If we don’t have the item in our collection, then we search the TAL catalogue online.
If you’re a Calgary Public Library cardholder, and you’d like to use materials from other library systems, then ask for a TAL card the next time you’re in your local branch.
