LITERACY AT THE LIBRARY EVENTS
Growing Readers for Life!
Watch for programs at your Library to help your child get ready to read
Research shows...
- An early introduction to language through the use of songs, nursery rhymes,
oral stories and books is the single most important factor in successfully learning to read.
- Speaking with your child and reading to your child in the language that is most
comfortable for you will help your child when it is time for him to learn English.
- There is a relationship between how much children have been read to and how well they will read.
We can help!
- Find stories, songs and other materials in many languages at the Library.
- Attend Storytimes and other Library programs at the Library and enjoy learning in a group setting.
- Ask staff to suggest books, rhymes, songs, CDs, videos and DVDs to share with your child.
- Parenting books can help you with questions about your child’s development.
