Wrestling on what to do...?

by Cindy - 0 Comment(s)

Teen Read Week (Oct. 14 – 20) was celebrated with the launch of the WrestleMania Reading Challenge and a visit from WWE wrestler, Lance Storm!

Thirty-seven teens visited the Forest Lawn Library to meet Lance, ask questions, line up for autographs on some of the many freebees that he brought along.

Our Librarian Liz conducted the interview!

The Forest Lawn Library had the honour to host the Refugee Experience Series with Carol Huynh as our guest speaker on November 19.

Carol Huynh is an Olympic Champion who won Canada's first gold medal in the female division at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Carol spoke with 45 teens about growing up as a child of refugee parents, her Olympic experience, and how she went on to earn a Masters degree in psychology. She also did a wrestling demonstration, using Liz, as her dummy.

Our Librarian, Liz, was brave enough to go up against Carol!

After a few headlocks, flips and turns, the teens had an up close look at Carol's Olympic medals!
