Did you know that the second Sunday of September is officially Grandparents Day?! This year it is Sunday September 8, and the Calgary Public Library, Louise Riley Branch (1904 14th Avenue NW), is celebrating this great day throughout the afternoon. We are inviting Grandparents, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to join us in this celebration.
It will be a wonderful, fun afternoon of games, music, activities and entertainment for all ages. Grandparents and their grandchildren can make life very special for one another and we want people to celebrate that special relationship this Grandparents Day.
The idea of an event to celebrate Grandparents Day was conceived by Calgary residents Everett Marwood (Author, A Legacy Worth Leaving, savouring the past, inspiring the future) and Lois Faris (Life Transitions, Life Planner). It was envisioned as a festive occasion to take place on Grandparents Day.
The idea was submitted to the Calgary Public Library in January of 2013. The Library embraced and supported the idea with enthusiasm, and offered up facilities and staff participation for the occasion. So the Grandparents Day celebration was born and nurtured, and is happening this Sunday, starting at 12:00 noon, at the Louise Riley branch of Calgary Public Library. Lois Faris and Everett Marwood would like to thank the Library staff for their exceptional efforts.
This event is designed to encourage an appreciation by all generations of the joy and value of inviting and welcoming each other into their lives.
