Calgarians Choose a Century of Great Books

by Lindsay B - 0 Comment(s)

You may have remembered that the Calgary Public Library held a contest last year called "Calgarians Choose a Century of Great Books." This contest invited Calgarians to suggest titles they thought should make a "top 100" list of great books from the last century. Over 2000 votes were submitted, and nearly 1000 titles were suggested!
The link below includes and article by the Calgary Hearld and the "top 100" book list of the books that Calgarians selected. The Hunger Games and Harry Potter top the list, but you might be suprised of the other titles that made the list!

National Human Library Day is a one day event hosted by local libraries and media and cultural centres across the country, in an effort to help dispel myths and stereotypes by creating an opportunity to have a conversation with someone you may not have met otherwise.

Members of the public will have a chance to "check out" a "book" and ask questions to learn about the person and their extraordinary life.

This event will take place on Saturday January 26 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Check out the link below to see which "books" are available at participating branches.
