Book Recommendation: The Most Magnificent Thing

Book Recommendation: The Most Magnificent Thing

by Alyssa Bradac - 0 Comment(s)

The Most Magnificent Thing by Saskatoon author/illustrator Ashley Spires tells the story of a young girl who gets an idea - but not just any idea. The girl gets an idea to make the most magnificent thing! But she doesn't make it on the first try. In fact, it takes a lot of trial and error. A beautifully illustrated book about the power of preserverence (and taking a step back), The Most Magnificent Thing is sure to delight!

Watch the book trailer, and then check out the book from the Saddletowne Library!

Days away from opening, Caroline reflects on the excitement of a community

Coming SoonDrivers bombing down Falconridge Blvd N.E. slightly crane their necks to see the progress of The Genesis Centre of Community Wellness. Is today the day? For two and a half years they have patiently watched as the structural steel emerged from the earth and steadily shaped into a grand complex. Today, a fence still stands guard indicating only authorized personal may enter, but residents can see that the complex will open soon. But when will it open?

This last question is being asked more and more around Calgary: by customers at Village Square Library and at outreaches. When will the new library open?? An recent Calgary Herald article touches on the community's excitement of the Centre's imminent opening. Yesterday, a Sunday, Caroline was at a tea shop in Inglewood, chatting with a friend on the progress of Saddletowne Library. Another customer nearby interjected: “Sorry, the new library opening in the northeast?! I am so looking forward to it opening!” Turns out she is a resident of Coral Springs. “Finally, the northeast is getting something awesome!”

We can't say with certainty when those sliding doors will open and our staff will welcome the first customers to Saddletowne Library. However, you are invited to our GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION on Saturday January 14th, 2011 2012!

See you soon!
