Saddletowne Creative Writing Contest!

We have introduced a creative writing contest for the month of November at the Saddletowne Library! We encourage any children between the ages of 7-18 to submit original writing pieces. Prizes in different categories are definitely involved, as well as the overall awesome feeling of creating something fantastic! All authors will retain the original copywright of their work - no work will be published by the library. Here are the details:

  • ALL work submitted must be original
  • Limist TWO entries per person
  • Contestants must be between the ages of 7-18


How to Submit:

  • Send an email to saddlewrites@gmail.com, or turn in hard copies at the Saddletowne Library!
  • Upload pieces in either .doc or .pdf file formats
  • Include your name, phone number, and age
  • SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Sunday, November 30th!

Yup, that's it.

Did you know that Everest author Gordon Korman began writing in grade 7? Alec Greven was just 9 years old when he wrote How to Talk to Girls. Eragon author Christopher Paolini finished the first book of his famous series at 15!

Spring Break Fun!

Spring break is lots of fun, but sometimes teens hanging out want a change of pace. For a fun break this Friday, stop by Saddletowne library and join in our games day!

Starting at 2:30 PM and running until 4:00, our games day will include a Wii game system, a Microsoft Kinect, giant chess, and all types of different board games! This fun event is drop in and completely free!

We encourage all teens and kids to stop by and join us for this super fun event!

StartSmart:Saving for your Kids' Education

Wondering how best to save for your child's education? On March 15th, Saddletowne library is pleased to offer a one-night course that will provide information to assist you in starting Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs) for your children. An RESP will allow you to assist your children financially if they choose to pursue post-secondary education.

This program is presented in conjunction with Momentum, and will be held at the Saddletowne branch at 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
