Sun Life Financial Arts + Culture Pass
Program Overview & History
In the fall of 2012 the Calgary Public Library launched a unique made-in-Calgary initiative that opens doors and opportunities for low-income Calgarians to access quality arts and culture experiences.
The initiative builds upon a successful pilot project that was made possible through a community grant from the Calgary Foundation. Now, as a result of a generous multi-year financial investment by Sun Life Financial, the Library has expanded the initiative from five libraries, where it was piloted, to all 18 library branches in the system.
The Sun Life Financial Arts + Culture Pass operates in partnership with the City of Calgary Recreation Fee Assistance Program which qualifies individuals and families for financial support and for eligibility to access event tickets and admission passes through this initiative.
• To improve the quality of life of financially-barriered Calgarians through access to arts and culture experiences
• To increase civic participation and social inclusion of all Calgarians while enhancing cultural vibrancy
• To increase access and connection between Calgary arts and culture organizations and underrepresented audiences
