What is a Living Library?

The Living Library works like your local library, however, the books you borrow are "Living Books." Living Books are CPL volunteers who share stories about their personal experiences. As a "reader" you can learn more about the diversity in your community. Living Library helps people to understand each other better by engaging in one conversation at a time. Living Books are available for checkout at libraries, and they are available to speak to groups of people in Calgary.

Living Books

Living Books share stories about their personal experiences in a welcoming environment as part of a Living Library. These are real people with whom you can have a conversation. As a "reader" you can learn more about the diversity in your community and ask questions you have always wanted to ask.

Living Books are available for checkout at Calgary Public Library, or to speak to groups, schools or organizations. For more information about Living Books or how to volunteer as a Living Book, please contact livinglibrary@calgarypubliclibrary.com
