Fruit plate

Week 2: Cruel Love
by Yao Xi on Youth Read 2013 - 0 Comment(s)
Fruit plate

This was about a year ago. It was summer time, I was living in Montreal in that time. During this warm summer day, my mom offer us some fruits. I was on a good mood, so I decided to entertain my brother a little. I proposed that we all take a plate and make something with the fruits: strawberries, apple and cantaloup. So each of us had half an apple. My desing was more of abstract kind, whereas my brother's looks like Doraemon, don't you think so?

Cool School Classes: Outdoor Education

Week 9: The End
by unfiltered on Youth Read 2013 - 0 Comment(s)

One class that I am itching to be put back into the school's complimentary course curriculum has got to be Outdoor Ed. Ironically, I am not the type of person you would call outdoorsy. (More like the type that spends all her summer reading books & sifting through the internet, oops) But I have heard about this class from some graduates and they said the class was AH-MAZING.

During the winter, they would go snowshoeing across the large field, build impromptu igloos, and even go skiing. In the warmer months, they would go canoeing. I've also overheard that they would learn how to use survival tools, to things like a compass or use a pot to boil water over a fire.

I'm not sure why the school ever took out such a fun class, maybe it was because not a lot of people were taking it, or financial reasons. Nonetheless, I really hope that one day I'll get to take such an awesome class. Who knows, the class might teach me some essential skills for the impending dystopian future. I'm kidding of course.... or am I?  *cue suspenseful horror film music*

Im done all my challenges!!

Dear Calgary Public Library,

Week 7: Hadouken!
by lidarose on Youth Read 2013 - 0 Comment(s)

Okay, I recomended this competition to my friend in June (heres hoping she wins something) but I didn't start doing them until I got an email from you guys. Despite that the friend that I had convinced to do it reminded me repeatedly (big hypocrite I know). Know it's august and I'm kind of scrambling to get all these challenges done without doing it the easy way and just read 5 hours every week (no offence to those who have done that, reading is great it's just I do it all time). Who came up with these ideas? Like book poetry that was so creative! I wasn't able to do it because I procrastinated and I can't go to the libarary but I would've if I could've. I'm going to try to unplug tommorrow (who said you had to do these in order?) and we'll see how that goes. But yeah another challenge done!

See you tom,

Hailey (I cannot remember my user name gah!)

Thanks :D
